The Digital Pod is a BP innitiative to apply design framework to all internal projects and products. The main challenge was to increase the company's design maturity using a framework that combined Design Thinking, Lean UX, Agile and DevOps.

Understanding the Problem before Solution

Design Thinking oriented, the innovation centre aimed to offer a new framework for exploring the problem from a different perspective.

Delivering with Lean UX and Agile

Once Design helped to "think outside the box", Lean UX is used to guide the ideas towards development via Agile.

DevOps for Scaling Innovation

Finally, DevOps brings down the barriers between the development and operations parts to achieve and to scale the best customer experience (1).

Design + Agile = Products

I was part of the core team that defined the framework between Design Thinking, Agile and DevOps as well as acting as a "hands on" UX designers taking part of user researches, ideations, prototyping, use testings and iterations. It was a long term challenge, twelve months, as part of a large Digital Transformation programme for the entire company. Examples of deliverables: Strategic Mobile Dashboard App, Internal Feedback App, Real-time Benchmark Application for large projects among others operational, tactical and strategic products.

Enterprise architecture with criativity.

Design for large enterprise is a challenge. Beyond the regular processes, design should consider the complexity of such ecosystem. At the Digital Pod we use different methods and techniques to deal with it.

Remote workshops using Microsoft Surface.

Remote design workshops were carried between two Innovation Centres: London and Huston. Many workshops happened with success. In this example schetches were shared between multiple teams.

Creative Matrix as a method for generating solutions.

For more than 12 months many design methods were applied from Discovery to Delivery. Methods such as Personas, Creative Matrix, User Story Mapping, Abstraction Laddering, Affiny Clustering, among others, became part of a "book of design methods"
